• Successfully acted as lead counsel for a minority shareholder (a dormitory operator) in a minority oppression claim against a joint venture company worth S$20 million set up to operate dormitories and its majority shareholder in the High Court the latter whom were presented by a team headed by a Senior Counsel. The Court ordered a buy-out of the minority shareholder’s 30% shareholding after reversing the dilution of his shares to 15%.: H8 Holdings Pte Ltd v RIC Dormitory Pte Ltd & 3 Othrs.[2024] SGHC 177

• Successfully acted as lead counsel for a minority shareholder in a minority oppression claim against a successful security services company and its directors in the High Court. The client’s shares were bought out for $1.5 million.

• Successfully invoked, as lead counsel, an indemnity clause to fully indemnify a subcontractor involved in mechanical engineering works in the oil & gas sector from any sums payable for the death of a worker in an industrial accident on a sea vessel: Chin Guang Jiunn, Deric and another v Modec Offshore Production Systems (Singapore) Pte Ltd and other(Generco Industrial Pte Ltd and another, third party[2024] SGDC 38

• Successfully defended against a minority oppression claim for a buyout before the Singapore High Court as lead counsel: Gui Chien Cheong Martin v Facilit8te Pte Ltd and another[2021] 4 SLR 1449

• Successfully defended against a $250,000 claim in damages or statutory damages in the alternative for copyright infringement against two furniture retailers before the Singapore State Court in Ng Wee Chong v HDDoor Pte Ltd and another matter[2021] SGDC 168 as lead counsel acting for both defendants. Successfully defended against an appeal of the State Court decision that same year.

• Presently acting as lead counsel for the Claimant in a minority oppression claim before the High Court seeking a buy-out of the minority shareholder’s 50% shareholding in a cybersecurity software company valued at approximately S$40 million

• Presently acting as lead counsel for a group of investors making a High Court claim, through a special purpose vehicle in misrepresentation and breach of directors and escrow agent duties and who are seeking the recovery of escrow funds of the sums of USD5,010,000 and SGD720,000 and damages in the sums of in the sums of USD1,002,000 and SGD144,000

• Presently acting as lead counsel for a family office in a  multi-million dollar claim  in the High Court against an ex-employee for breaches of an employment agreement and various tortious acts including defamation and interference with trade

• Presently acting as lead counsel for the appellants in an appeal before the Appellate Division of the High Court in a $4 million claim in misrepresentation in relation to the purchase of a property

• Presently acting as lead counsel for a variable capital company in a $4 million claim against an investor for misrepresentation and breaches of an investment agreement

Criminal Defence

• Acted as lead counsel representing close to 150 accused persons at the State Courts and Supreme Court for Penal Code and other regulatory offences. Successfully secured conditional warnings, community-based sentences, and acquittals for serious property, violent and sexual offences (including money laundering, motor insurance fraud, rioting, causing grievous hurt and outrage of modesty amongst others) involving young and adult clients at both pre-and post-trial stages.

• Acted as instructed for a medical doctor facing a charge for causing death by rash act in relation to a botched liposuction procedure and successfully obtained a reduction in the charge from death by rash act to death by negligent act; resulting in a reduction of an 8-month jail term her co-accused was sentenced to under the original charge to 6 weeks’ imprisonment.

• Successfully obtained a non-custodial sentence for a co-accused person in an illegal online gambling ring that earned S$100m in revenue. Prosecution had initially communicated a Plead Guilty Offer of an 8-month imprisonment term before acceding to representations by counsel for a non-custodial sentence.

• Successfully obtained a community sentence with no criminal record for the regulatory offence of false declaration of employee’s salaries for which a custodial term is a judicially prescribed norm. Prosecution, who had sought 4 weeks imprisonment, did not appeal the judgment.

Mediation

• Successfully mediated an investment dispute where the investor had claimed for a sum of $1.3 million. Siraj spearheaded the collective mediation effort of the Defendants as lead counsel of one of the Defendants. The claim was settled at $400,000 split between 3 Defendants.

• Successfully mediated a settlement of a negligence lawsuit relating to death caused by an industrial accident where a half a million- dollar claim was settled at $162,000.
