Yi Yang is an Associate Director at Silvester Legal with over 15 years of experience spanning both transactional and disputes work. Called to the Singapore Bar, he has practised in top-tier local and international law firms and held senior in-house positions at a leading technology group.

Yi Yang has acted for financial institutions,  government-linked entities, multinational corporations, and major regional players across diverse sectors including financial services, technology, media, communications, defence, transportation, energy and construction in both disputes and transactional matters. His dual expertise in contentious and non-contentious matters allows him to deliver commercially attuned, end-to-end legal solutions for complex issues.

  • Led legal efforts to close off high value contracts for a technological conglomerate across multiple sectors.
  • Led legal support for multiple Merger & Acquisitions both in Singapore and Australia.
  • Advised a United States listed offshore drilling company on various compliance and employment law issues pertaining to its Singaporean subsidiaries.
  • Advised various ship-owners and financial institutions on a variety of shipping related documentation, including MOUs, bunkering agreements, charterparties, crew contracts and ship agency agreements.
  • Acted for a Singaporean ready-mixed concrete supplier to defend multi-million dollar claims brought by a Swedish main contract alleging failure to supply concrete in a SIAC arbitration.
  • Acted for a UAE incorporated construction company against an international engineering conglomerate based on South Korea in a Singapore seated SIAC arbitration.
  • Acted for a Hong Kong based construction company against a French conglomerate in a SIAC arbitration to successfully set aside a final account on the basis of economic duress.
  • Acted for various European banks in multiple. vessel enforcement actions in the Singapore. Courts.
  • Acted for a Singapore based commodities trader against its Chinese buyer in SCMA arbitrations governed by English Law.
